Makenna Pratt:
I’m a fourth-year psychology student (Bachelor of Arts), with hopes of becoming a forensic psychologist in the future. I was born and raised in Kamloops, B.C., however I do think it would be cool to move to the island in the future. I really enjoy hiking, running, swimming, playing piano or guitar, and reading in my spare time.
Nina Jahnke:
This fall I enter my second year as a student at Thompson Rivers University, TRU, majoring in political science and economics. Regarding personal career goals, I plan to pursue a career in the field of law, though the particular area of which is still undecided. I have spent the greater part of my life growing up in Kamloops, BC, with my five siblings. I enjoy spending my time with friends and family, outdoors and flipping through the pages of my current read.
Lucy Millam:
A third-year athlete at TRU, majoring in communications and public relations. Originally from Victoria, BC, I made the decision to move across the province to chase my passion for volleyball, and I’ve never looked back. Joining the Wolfpack in my first year was an incredible experience, it felt like jumping into the deep end of a pool, but I was more than ready for it. Volleyball has always been a huge part of my life, and pursuing it alongside my education has been an amazing journey.
When I’m not on the court or in class, I love finding little moments for myself whether it’s baking something sweet, diving into a good book, or hitting the hiking trails to clear my head. Balancing life as a full-time student-athlete is no joke, but every challenge has been worth it for the memories and experiences I’ve gained.
Luisa Reitemeyer:
I am an exchange student from Germany currently studying at Thompson Rivers University. I have spent the last four years studying International Business and Management at the University of Applied Sciences in Osnabrück, while gaining experience as a student assistant in marketing and communications. With a focus on event management, I recently completed an internship as a project assistant for a well-known online marketing festival. After my exchange, I plan to return to Germany to write my bachelor’s thesis and pursue a career in event management.
In my free time, I love staying active whether it’s going to the gym, running, hiking, practicing yoga, or playing tennis. I also enjoy reading a good book, listening to podcasts or relax by watching my favorite series.
Jillian Prociuk:
I’m 20, and I’m in my third year of psychology at TRU. I grew up in Kamloops, but I was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and I moved here when I was 4. After initially planning to major in Geography and Environmental Studies, I found my passion in Psychology after taking an introductory class as an elective. I decided to change my major when I realized I really didn’t enjoy environmental studies. Once I graduate, I plan to do my master’s at Memorial University in Newfoundland and work as a clinical counsellor.
Outside of school, I enjoy working on textile arts such as sewing and knitting, as well as hiking and jogging. While I’m not currently employed, as I decided to take the summer and fall semesters off, I previously worked as a waitress. I’m also volunteering with Girl Guides as a leader for the 2nd Mount Paul Sparks, working with 6-year-old girls. I’ve been in Girl Guides since I was a kid, so working as a Leader is great because I can share the experiences I had when I was a kid with the girls in my unit.
