Alexis Virgo has been a key player for TRU Women’s Soccer for the past three years. Originally from Ottawa, she has become a standout figure within the WolfPack, both on and off the field. As she looks ahead, Alexis sees herself stepping into a captaincy role, eager to take on more leadership responsibilities. She is passionate about increasing attendance at games and advocating for the program’s growth within the TRU community.
One of the challenges Alexis addresses is the hesitation many female athletes feel about speaking up, fearing judgment or being deemed wrong. For her, creating a supportive environment where women’s voices are amplified is crucial. She believes change can start with greater media coverage for female athletics, bringing much-needed recognition to the dedication and achievements of women in sports.
Alexis draws immense inspiration from her mother, whom she describes as her hero. Her mom juggled being an elite basketball player and synchronized swimmer while pursuing a law degree all while pregnant with Alexis. This blend of resilience and ambition has deeply shaped Alexis’s outlook on life and sports.
Excited about the future in Kamloops, Alexis is committed to strengthening ties within the community and making TRU a hub for passionate support of women’s athletics. She hopes to inspire a new wave of young athletes to follow their dreams, both on and off the field.
